Form Academy is a cosmetology school in Echo Park, Los Angeles. We recently got in touch with Miriam Jones, the President/Director of the school, and asked some brief questions about the academy, and its services. We were curious to get to know some basic information about the business, so here you go. Hint: there’s a nice bonus at the end–we hope you check them out!
EPF: Does the academy have a history or previous location before it found its current home in Echo Park?
Our academy was founded in 2009 and resided in Silverlake for the first year. We now love to call Echo Park our home and continue to thrive as part of the art scene.
EPF: It looks like the barber segment of your academy is fairly new, congratulations! How recently did it open, and approximately how many students are enrolled as future barbers?
Our first Barber class has 12 students enrolled. We love that we can teach straight razor shaves, fades and designs. This allows us to appeal to many more men and broadens our reach in the beauty and education industry.
EPF: People can get pretty affordable salon and barber services through your school–services that are offered by your students and supervised by professionals. How has the community responded to these services, and who are your most common customers (kids, families, individuals)?
Our students have a growing clientele and we feel that the feedback so far has been very positive. The demand for inexpensive yet fashionable beauty services is high in a neighborhood filled with young artists, like Echo Park. We get to teach current and progressive hairstyling to our students because the fashionistas who frequent our salon are so creative.
All services generally attract 20-45 year old clients, both men and women.
EPF: What are some of the most popular salon services people seek?
Services range from $3 to $50 for everything from manicures to facials and barber services.
EPF: Lastly, we learned about a certain barber-salon services special the academy is running for the next 30 days. What is it, what are the dates, and who can go to your academy to take advantage of the announcement?
We are offering FREE mens cuts, fades, beard grooming, straight shaves and beard tinting to all men until January 30th, 2014.
EPF: Is there anything else you would like to add or announce about Form Academy?
Our space is host to many photo, film and promotional events. We are licensed to teach cosmetology, skincare, makeup, nails and barbering. Over 500 students have graduated as licensed professionals due to our training. We are working on becoming federally funded and aim to become a world-recognized learning institution for our progressive and high standard of education in beauty art.
Thank you Miriam and Form Academy for letting us know more about your cosmetology school in Echo Park.
Form Academy is active on social media, so follow them to keep up with the details. They recently shared that they have a positive outlook on the enrollment for 2014–congratulations!
As for the free barber services offered, Miriam mentioned that clients can walk in, or book appointments online or by calling. However, always be sure to check with them before making an appearance, especially because of the holiday hours. Since it is a school, it does have a winter break for its enrolled students.
