Support local Echo Park restaurants and tacos for this year’s LATaco.com’s Taco Madness tournament!
Taco Madness 2014
This time of year is known as March Madness for many sport fans who follow a competitive 64-team college tournament that takes place in late March (starts March 18th). The tournament includes the best players in college and is historically a significant factor in the yearly NBA drafts.
That’s all great for sports fans, but what are taco fans supposed to do this time of year, other than eat tacos, like always?
LATaco.com, a taco blog that “celebrates the taco lifestyle in Los Angeles” is again hosting this year’s Taco Madness Tournament where 32 of LA’s best taco restaurants, stands and trucks battle it out in a quick voter-powered frenzy.
In their own words:
Taco Madness Presented by Groupon launches the week of March 10th! Get ready for all your favorite taco spots to go head-to-head in one of the world’s most popular bracket-style online competitions! The whole thing culminates with Taco Madness Presented by Groupon at Grand Park on April 5th, where you can taste some of the city’s best tacos, watch the city’s best artists paint live, enjoy a bar run by Bricia & Fernando Lopez of La Guelaguetza, and listen to the best sounds of LA’s finest DJs.

Support Echo Park Tacos
If you’re out late in Echo Park, the food options start to quickly diminish after 11 p.m., but there are always good, dependable street-side eats around the neighborhood. One of the favorites is alongside Alvarado St. waiting for late-comers well into the night–Taco Zone. Marked up with endless indie band stickers, this taco truck made the list for the best taco in Los Angeles. It is seeded 7th in the left bracket of the tournament.
Though headquartered in Boyle Heights, a popular taco restaurant lately has been Guisados, which also has a location in Echo Park (1261 W Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90026) and is scheduled to open in Downtown Los Angeles (541 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013). Reviewed by many blogs, enjoyed daily by many residents, Guisados goes into this year’s tournament as a top seed at numero 1 on the right-sided bracket. Guisados is a strong contender for this year’s best tacos in Los Angeles.

It’s real simple to vote–all you do is click on a couple of choices and hit submit. You don’t have to vote for all of the competitions going on. Check my ballot out…did my civic duty this morning:
Taco Zone needs your help! Guisados is well-supported.
