Help Echo Park dog get surgery to remove metal object from insides

We came across Bagel’s medical situation on Instagram and wish to spread the call to help. Bagel’s Owner, Miri, needs help collecting funds needed to cover expensive veterinary bills caused by a metal object in her dog’s belly.

The following is a quick synopsis of the situation from Miri, including pictures of Bagel, and the links to help.

Some might remember Miri from our interview about her foster pet Rico the Pitbull whom she fostered for weeks. It was on this site where we interviewed her about Rico, and where the future owners found the article and adopted Rico into their family (picture). Miri is a true dog-lover who has given much to others, and it’s our hope that we can help to bring her and Bagel out of this situation.

Bagel’s Medical Situation

Bagel is a 15 month old deaf Dogo mix. I rescued her last year as she was going to get shot by a neighbor in Bakersfield, CA. She is an energetic bundle of joy that loves people and dogs. She is well-known in Echo Park for her loving nature, sign language training, and infectious playing.

She had been lethargic, and not playing or eating lately, so I took her to the vet 3 weeks ago. The vet found a metal pin-shaped object in her spleen/liver/intestine area that may need surgery to remove.

I am looking for work and also waiting for my social so I cannot apply for care credit. My insurance only reimburses, so I have to fund her treatment in advance.

I have spent everything I have to pay for the vet bills so far. I set up a GoFundMe page for her and we have been blessed with all of the help. I am $35 short for her $802 ultrasound and biopsy as of today, August 5, 2014.

If she needs surgery, it’s a $2,000-$4,000 estimate–but I hope to know soon and will deal with that when the time comes.

Donations, fundraising, sharing on social media, or medical opinions are greatly appreciated. I want to do everything I can to help her get better. She is my everything!

Thank you,

Miri
